A few years ago I got the Onewind gear sling and was impressed. Later I got the poncho shelter and was also impressed. Ditto for a hammock snake skin. Then I made the mistake of getting a dyneema tarp. Yes it was very light, but it didn't cover enough and in high winds and rainy situations things got wet, even stuff in the gear sling. I don't care how light something is if it doesn't do the job. So, based on the quality of other items I have from Onewind I decided to get the camo billow hammock tarp.
This thing is a palace. I comes with everything you need to set it up. I added some shock cord to the tieouts in the middle of each side so I could use my trekking poles to open it up even more inside. And I made a custom ridgeline. Other than that, no changes.
The stitching is quality work and everything is seam sealed. The tieouts are firmly attached and have additional fabric for strength. All the bottom tieouts have tensioners and you can use the shock cord to store the excess cord instead of leaving it on the ground for a late night tripping hazard. My first time using it the weather was just above freezing, windy, and rainy at times. Inside the tarp was perfect. Having the extra cloth to go close to the ground as well as the "doors" blocks most of the weather and everything stayed nice and dry. I could even leave my boots on the ground without them getting wet. In my other tarp they would have been soaked by morning.
Another bonus is that it blends in nicely with the surroundings. Some people like brightly colored camping gear. I like to blend in. The dyneema tarp was camo as well, but the fabric is shiny and you can see it from hundreds of feet away through the trees when even a little sun is out. This tarp is wonderful for blending in. I walked around the area after it was set up just to make sure it wasn't visible until you get close. Perfect!!
The doors come with shock cord and the carabiners to attach them to the side tieouts on the opposite side when you want to close them off. When closed the fabric comes together and blocks most of the wind. When not needed you can fold them back and attach it to the other one on the same side. I attached mine on the inside so I wouldn't have to go out to get them if it rained.
There is a lot more I could say about this wonderful tarp. Bottom line, this is yet another amazing, quality product from Onewind. I highly recommend it.
